Taking Root Garden Design Services

Taking Root Garden Design approaches things differently than other landscape firms. We believe that the intersection of nature and people can be a place of form and function, beauty and purpose. We look at the whole of your property while also doing a deep dive into the particular spaces you want to focus on at that time. How you want to utilize and feel in your landscape is just as important to identify as the plants and hardscape materials that will go into it. In the work we do, we aim to create opportunities to foster life and beauty in everyday spaces.

Consultation

It all starts with a conversation and a walk around your property. A virtual walk is also a possibility if you don’t find yourself located near Middle Tennessee. First, we’ll consider your goals and dreams for the property and the particular space you’re interested in working on. We’ll discuss things like how you currently use the space and how it could serve you better, whether that’s serving a physical need such as establishing a gathering space or addressing storm water runoff, or an aesthetic need such as designing a front landscape with year-round interest.

We’ll take into account the existing plant populations and how they’re functioning. We’ll also look at the overall property, assess how all the pieces work together and how that could be improved. The consultation helps identify your goals and priorities and helps uncover the challenges and opportunities that the site presents.

Examples of consultations include native and edible gardens, garden renovations, outdoor play spaces and children’s gardens, landscape and outdoor space planning, and maintenance plans.

Garden Design

A Conceptual Design is a birds eye, scaled drawing of the landscape showing the proposed design of the spaces and recommended plants and hardscape materials. It will inform and guide the installation of the landscape, whether that is done by you or a professional. This is an important step to ensure that your resources are being invested wisely in your landscape. Having a plan will save much time, money and frustration in the long run.

A Plan of Landscape Priorities is a good choice for those who wish to take a more hands-on approach to their property. After a site consultation, we can provide a prioritized list of next steps for your landscape. This will allow you to improve your outdoor spaces based on your timeline and will give you a long plan term and guidance along the way.

Installation

Allow TRGD to install or coordinate the installation of your garden design. We will layout and install new garden designs and can also renovate existing gardens and outdoor spaces to better serve your needs and vision. We also work with a network of experienced subcontractors who we can recommend to install anything outside of our wheelhouse.

Management and Maintenance

Gardens and landscapes are only as good as their ongoing care and maintenance. In order to do this effectively, planning is required. Having a proper plan on how your gardens and critical outdoor spaces will be cared for will save you time, money and frustration in the long run and will protect the investment you’ve made in your property. We can work with you to develop a landscape management plan, whether you choose to employ it yourself or seek assistance. We also offer fine garden maintenance for those clients who live in or close by to the Columbia/Spring Hill area of Middle Tennessee.
